​​​​​Dr. Fred’s professional career began as a Captain in the US Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal. He returned to Altoona, joined Dr. Arnold Berman in private practice and upon Dr. Berman’s retirement in 1985, had his own office in downtown Altoona until merging with Dr. Satryan to form Mountain View Eye Associates in 1998.

Now in his 40th year of practice, Dr. Fred has a passion for what he does. He loves both people and technology- always employing kindness, and attention to detail. His special clinical interests include:
 

• Those with complicated vision and health conditions.

• Contact lens fitting and problem solving.

• Specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, bifocals, corneal transplants, and damaged eyes.

• Glaucoma- Diagnosis and management.

• Macular Degeneration- Diagnosis and management.

• Dry Eye Disease- Diagnosis and management

• Cataract- Diagnosis and management

• Diabetic Eye Disease- Diagnosis and management.

Dr. Fred allows one hour for each “full eye exam” patient, to insure proper evaluation, treatment, and patient education.

He has been voted by Altoona Mirror readers a “HOMETOWN FAVORITE OPTOMETRIST” finalist 11 times since 2002, winning the award 6 times- most recently 2017, and is in the HOMETOWN FAVORITE HALL OF FAME.

Dr. Fred is married to Linda Burns of Rochester, NY. They are the parents of six children and 2 grandchildren. They live in Altoona-
near Penn State Altoona Campus. Dr. Fred’s hobbies are personal fitness (especially running-later in 2018 he will be running the Pike’s Peak Ascent in Colorado), reading, watching sports, listening to music, and cutting the grass.

​​​​​Upon graduation, Dr. Jones began practicing at Kilmore Eye Associates in Mechanicsburg, PA. During that time, Dr. Jones gained experience in managing patients with Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration as well as post-operative care of patients who had Cataract, LASIK, and PRK surgery. In August 2002, he returned to his hometown, Altoona, to join Mountain View Eye Associates. In January 2007, Dr. Jones became a partner/owner of the practice.

Dr. Jones is a member of the American Optometric Association, PA Optometric Association, and his local optometric society. Dr. Jones has a special interest in managing and controlling Myopia in children, Dry Eye and Macular Degeneration. Dr. Jones has been voted by the Altoona Mirror readers a “Hometown Favorite Eye Doctor” finalist every year since 2012.

Dr. Jones and his family attend Hick’s Methodist Church in Duncansville. Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, son Jeremy, and daughter Emily. He also enjoys weightlifting, running and woodworking.

​​​​​He attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he graduated in 2013. During his time there, Dr. Rettig completed 5 clinical externships all with honors. They included time at The Eye Institute and Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia as well as Laurel Eye Clinic and Nittany Eye Associates.

He is a member of the American Optometric Association, The Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and his local optometric society. Dr. Rettig carries a special interest in specialty contact lens fitting with a focus on scleral lenses, surgical co-management, dry eye disease, and diabetic eye disease.

Currently, Dr. Rettig lives in Hollidaysburg with his wife Jamie (a veterinarian), their four children, Simon, Ellis, Emmeline, Penelope and their two dogs, one cat and two horses. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, board games, following Pittsburgh sports, movies, and disc golf.

​​​​​Dr. Krepps then studied optometry at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and graduated as valedictorian.

He completed 3 clinical externships that included the Eye and Vision Center at MCPHS, Optometric Care Inc,
and Perry Point VA Medical Center.

Dr. Krepps is a member of the American Optometric Association.  He has a special interest in contact lenses, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma.

Dr. Krepps currently resides in Flinton, PA with his family.  In his free time, he loves to spend time with his friends and family.
He also enjoys spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing.

​​​​​Upon completion, he attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he graduated in 2007, earning a clinical excellence award. He has worked 17 years in a large surgical and referral based practice. His interests include glaucoma and disease managment.
 

Mike now resides in Loretto with his wife Morgan and son Michael as well as their two Jack Russels, Rex and Lucy. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, farming and hunting.

​​​​​Michael Satryan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. In 1984 he graduated with clinical and academic honors from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree. He then spent the next 42 years as the founder and senior partner at Mountain View Eye in Altoona, PA. He has spent many years as a board member of VOSH-PA and currently serves as vice-president of the group. During that time, he has made numerous mission trips to Haiti. Mike now also serves on the board of directors of VOSH International as the chair of chapter relations. Since retiring in December 2025, Mike spends his time working at free medical clinics near his home as well as increasing his international mission trips. He also spends time playing with his grandchildren, playing pickleball, serving on his church council and travelling the country and world with his wife, Marcia.
